Lino Printing Workshop 4 weeks
My 4 week lino printing course is back and is running again in January 2020! The course will start on Wednesday January 8th and run for the following 3 Wednesday evenings, from 7- 9pm. It will be held at my house, from my large kitchen table and as there are only 6 spaces available, there is plenty of room for you to spread out. I am located close to the Carlton Club, here in Whalley Range.
This course is suitable for complete beginners and the aim is to get you feeling confident to carve and print lino at your kitchen table at home. All materials are provided and you will be given a 'pack' containing everything you need, to take home with you for the duration of the course, meaning you have no excuses for not being busy between classes!
Each week you will have a different piece of lino to carve in class and another piece to take home with you, which you may like to have carved for the following week.
Over the 4 weeks, we will cover the following:
Overview and explanation of all the different types of lino and tools that we will be using on the course. You will be shown how to use tracing paper to transfer artwork on to lino, ready to start cutting. There is no need to bring artwork for week 1, you will start carving a 'practice' piece, in order to get a feel for the process. You'll take a piece of lino home with you, so that you can prepare it for the following week.
You will bring some artwork with you, already transferred onto the lino, if you have had time. Then we will spend the first hour of the session carving and exploring all the different tools. From there, we then move on to looking at how we get ready to print. You will print your carved artwork/designs onto greeting cards. You'll take another piece of lino home with you, so that you can have it prepared for week 3.
We will start by looking at how to make a registration plate which you will take home with you. You are free to continue carving lino using the selection of tools which are available, or you can continue printing from the week before. You'll take another piece of lino home with you so that you can have it prepared for week 4.
This week you will have your artwork carved and ready (I hope!) so that we can print onto fabric. You will print a large square which could become a cushion cover or another item of your choice.
There are 6 spaces available, please just get in touch if you have any questions.
